I was honestly floored by the quality of the performances. Every one whom I had seen perform before had such amazing stage presence and everyone's musicianship was so vastly improved. The whole fest seemed extremely well put together as well.
- Seth's drumming was amazing and Joel's Bass was so rad sounding in Substandard - Everyone's Hypocrite definitely improved and sounded way more focused. - Behold the Rolling Thunder was devastating beyond Belief - The Get definitely topped the majority of bands musicianship-wise and could really go somewhere if they keep it up. - The system was so awesome for all the electronica, and KGHB was no exception. Most fun I've had at one of their shows since Lemonfest last year. - It never ceases to amaze me what Fighter X can do with one Gameboy. I swear he turns that thing on and the kids just start flailing around like he's put some sort of voodoo hex on them.
Just too much goodness. Thanks guys! Lemonfest has some big shoes to fill come October!

thanks guys. i was REALLY impressed with the get, brandon, and i look forward to seeing and hearing what you guys come up with. jack, your new stuff with the guitar was awesome to hear and its cool that you're branching out. you're also REALLY good with lsdj; i know i'm in the minority here in that i'm not as... "impressed" with straight-chiptune (as in completely produced and played on something like a game boy) but your songs were really good. also i can say without a doubt that invisible giants are one of my favorite bands now. just incredible. as far as behold the rolling thunder went.... meh. i was pretty bored with most of their stuff; they REALLY want to be Daughters. it was solid and well-played but nothing special or original. kind of disappointing considering the hype surrounding 'em. and what the heck, why didnt kghb play all of ed wood? that's more of a staple than dance dance dance!

haha why was KGHB the only band who had serious technical issues with the PA and have their set cut the most! we literally only played maybe half of the set! we were supposed to play dance dance dance, all of ed wood, sexy ladies, and bitches!
yeah, i personally thought the opening band was very entertaining for many reasons. one person from the crowd they decided to name "ryan" and throughout the show continued to mention him, had a song where they kept saying his name, etc. this was especially funny because the person they picked from the crowd's name really WAS ryan! i wonder if anyone told them that after the show! they also were saying the woman in the back was their mom, even though it was david coffman's mom! really funny stuff!!! Nick Moffit's dad was kind of supposed to be the comedic relief in between sets, it was funny that him, the comedian was the one to get offended by the jokes!! i really wish we got squirrel corpse's set on tape!
im not very surprised that everyones hypocrite didnt play Codename Sub. they are not playing very many of their "phase one" songs anymore, although it would have made the crowd happy. strange that EH stopped playing tribute because no one was singing along. i really dont think anyone knows / understands the lyrics to that song, im not even sure Nick Moffit does!
i wouldnt compare Behold the rolling thunder to Daughters. i think they sound a lot like Destroyer Destroyer, and i know they were really inspired by them and also The Great Redneck Hope. i really dont think they intended to sound like Daughters and dont in my opinion.
Fighter X had a lot of effects throughout his set from his kaosspad, that's one reason why it may have been more enjoyable than you'd expect seth. i watched every band except i did miss invisible giants, but i heard they were good! haha cant believe i started playing Interpol during Substandards set!

i wouldnt compare Behold the rolling thunder to Daughters. I can hear it in Canada Songs, not Hell Songs though. I don't think BTRT! aims to be musically impressive just ultra devastating and fucking hilarious (in a good way). Also keep in mind that at least half, if not all of that band is like 18 or younger, and they've been doing this since they were like 15. 3 years of metal headaches. That's pretty raw.

Some of the bands took a really long time to set up and we didn't cut them off when we should have. The power outages didn't help anything either. Poopy. Oh well, we got some shows coming up soon. Stanwood's "the Station", Chop Suey, and maybe the Vera Project. Woot woot

Oh yeah, and the staff did so incredibly well! I cant get over what sweet guys Dylan and Evan are! I hope they didnt sit at the booth TOO much, and still got to enjoy some of the show! And man, what did you guys think of the sweet DJ at Grassfest? I dont know why DJ Camp the Champ wasnt featured on the flyer, it should have said "DJ Camp spinning tunes between sets"! Oh well! See, I told you guys that my MP3 player would be a great DJ, just think if we paid a REAL DJ to play music inbetween sets!! I'm scared to imagine the things he would have blasted from the speakers...

Totally. You guys rule. And man if we had a real DJ, then I'm sure our milkshakes would be bringing all the boys to the yard... DJ Camp the Champ did a excellent job with the power of his mp3 player. Much better than any paid DJ I've seen. Although the Champ did start playing a song in the middle of Invisible Giants set! Oops.

You're actually a crappy DJ Aaron.......clearly not enough chiptune (joke)! And yeah Dylan and Evan were indeed some legendary volunteers. Does anyone remember how hard it was to eat those What A Treat cupcakes? We had to use both hands to tear that paper off! But yeah someone should have told those two great volunteers to manage the schedule as well. If they did, KGHB and myself probably would have been able to play longer

i'd be happy to manage the scheduling at a future event like this, yea.
i could also actually mix stuff together into a continuously blended "set" and play music from my laptop, if you ever wanted to do that. i have an incredible collection of music.
as for the cupcakes, it seriously took me a good 3-4 minutes to figure out how to get the wrapper off. and i had to horribly smoosh it to do it. i could just imagine it screaming too because of the little face >_O

I didn't have trouble with my cupcake. Maybe because i got to them before the sun did? Who knows, but I did feel extremely guilty for devouring something so cute that's for sure. But apparently, according to Lizzy, they want to be eaten.
