I really really enjoyed his electric heart strike album, my favorite is Dirty ROM dance mix or On Target (its uplifting!) and I dont get why hes not releasing his best/recent stuff though :/ Its quite different than everything you hear nowadays, thats why hes one of my favorite artists. but his "hello world" or "game boy singles 2002" are quite bleh. but back to artists for the comp i think you should get Random. hell try getting She or Xinon too. Breakbeat Heartbeat. Bitch Shitter? was he on the black list too? just throwin out some idea's

hahahahah, i might be the only one who doesnt care for him. i actually didnt realize that was unicorn kid who did that failure of a 48h challange that fighter x called him out on until after i declared him on the black list So the black list IS just artists you don't like. Doesn't seem very fair to me.

well fairness doesn't really play into it that much when it comes to guest artists. we can invite or not invite whoever we want. it's not like these "blacklist" artists are begging us to be on the comp anyway.

hahahah how is that NOT fair? why would me and gabe allow an artist on the crunchy comp if we dont like them? silly goose. electric heart strike offends me by the way

well, most definitely NOT to put any songs on the comp in which i deem bad, and/or do not meet my standards of quality. is that such a strange concept? not really too interested in random or shifter, but SHE is a good suggestion! black list update: henry homesweet, we are the future (aka falco) , nullsleep, unicorn kid, Akari||8GB, Xinon Alrighty, anymore suggestions? I would like to finish this up today. Gabe, i would like at least ONE input for a guest artist you would like to see on this comp; and what about you Nick? dont you want Shirobon?

yea defiantly shoot for she, btw he's coming with a new album called "chiptek" tomorrow, im pretty excited!!
Xenon is black listed too? can i have an explanation on why all these artists are black lists? not that i think its unfair im just wondering what u have against all those artists. I can see why falco is there cause there's really only one song i like by him.

well, most definitely NOT to put any songs on the comp in which i deem bad, and/or do not meet my standards of quality. You should tell me what songs to put on this then. Or if you want originals, how I should make them. I was under the impression that you were trying to make a compilation that people would enjoy listening to so they would discover CrunchyCo. and stuff. But if it's just for you guys that's different. So what do you want my two songs to sound like? Please be as specific as possible.

jack, our goal is not to make a compilation selfishly containing only what we like on it. of course it is supposed to be something that everyone can enjoy to help spread the word of crunchyco, but wouldn't it be kind of weird if it contained a bunch of songs that we don't even personally like? we could probably get a shitload of people discovering crunchyco if we filled a compilation with gangsta thug hip-hop and distributed it at some gangsta thug hip-hop show, but we don't like or endorse that kind of music so we wouldn't do that. I honestly have no opinion on these 'blacklisted' artists because I haven't listened to them enough to have one, but I understand where Aaron is coming from. It just wouldn't make sense for him/us to happily invite one of those artists to be on the comp if we secretly don't even like their music. That would just be two-faced and rude to those artists. It's important that anyone can enjoy the comp, and it's also important that we enjoy it ourselves, otherwise we just shouldn't make it.
And we're not going to tell you what songs to put on the compilation or how to make them sound. We want you to be creative and we've never been about telling people how to go about making their art. The way I understand it is that we're asking a bunch of artists to take part in this compilation and submit a couple songs each. That doesn't mean everything every artist submits actually will be on the final comp. Obviously if a song really sucks, we're not going to put it on. The only thing to keep in mind really is the target audience: Aaron and Nick wish to distribute this thing primarily at Blipfest, a huge chiptune festival. As with any songs you make though, I'm sure you would want them to be original, catchy, and creative, and perhaps incorporate non-chiptune elements that will set it apart from the norm. I have no doubt that you and the other CrunchyCo artists can roll out some awesome worthy tracks, and hopefully our guest artists can/will too in order to fill up more space, round out the comp, and add variety.
It's best not to take this whole 'blacklist' thing so seriously. Since Circles is not on the blacklist, it really has nothing to do with you or your compilation submissions so you needn't worry about it. It only has to do with artists that we as organizers are rightfully choosing not invite, and is probably an issue that should have only been brought up between Aaron and I in the first place.

No big deal. Just thought those would be solid choices that's all.
anyway my two submissions will be my chiptune remix of Shadowman's Music, and a chipped-out dancey cover of "Jellybones" by the Unicorns. They'll be good. I promise.

haha! jack dont be so worried about this thing; and im just having fun with the whole blacklist hahah! the only artists i really really dislike are producers such as Falco, which honestly really suck. its one thing if you are some bad unknown beginner artist, BUT its another thing when you are somehow popular & suck
I would really prefer your track to NOT be a cover song Jack, and if you are worried about finishing songs in time, i would recommend just focusing on one track? But to answer your question about recommendations about how your song should sound, today/tomorrow when we send out the emails, we WILL be suggesting a sound/style we would like to hear. Kind of like a 48 hour challenge, hopefully our recommendations for everyones individual musical direction will help inspire/speed up the process of the song, and ensure diversity. Example 1: I do not want Nordloef making a song in Nanoloop; i will be asking him to make an upbeat, catchy song with MIDINES and SIDSTATION. Example 2: I dont expect Trash80 to make an amazing new song for he comp, so i will be suggesting that he touches up and finishes a final version and better recording of his 48h challenge track Haunted Candles for the comp
black list update: henry homesweet, we are the future (aka falco), nullsleep, unicorn kid, Akari||8GB, Xinon, Eric Chiptune

so aaron did you message the artists yet? i guess i could just ask you in person since you live in the same house. haha. anyway, i think you've got a pretty good handle on the artists/tracks for the comp. i can focus more on getting some artwork together. i did ask kinoko but i'll see what i can do first. and how shall we go about doing our collaboration tracks?

The Swashbuckling Swantoon? One or more of the members of Anamanaguchi? Maybe something reasonable by Duke Midnight?
