Hey it was a fun time last night. I haven't been going out much in the last couplefew years. Chopsuey is one of my favorite venues. I agree Gabe - I believe I warned you about the stage... puts space between the performer and end user. But if you stand in the sweet-spot on the dancefloor the sound is superb. I always liked the floor there (except when it's sticky and you can't dance in time cause yer feet get stuck.) I was a little spaztastic due to a giant sugar-free Rockstar, but I enjoyed dancing and seeing everyone! Hey everyone check out my review on nwtekno: www.nwtekno.org/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=130486I'd really like not to be the only one posting. Plus I had some insights and burning questions. Maybe you can enlighten me?

haha its funny you reviewed a show that you were only there for half of! the review makes it sound like no one was dancing up until fighter x (am i wrong?). leeni's music is probably too slow to dance to so its not much of a surprise that no one was "hoping around like the mario bros". thats also disturbing that you tried to dance with the bunny-man butcher

so like. i thought this was funny: just before more four started up (which, by the way nick, i didn't realize how much i missed that lovely box of yours until i heard it again! oh. my. goodness.!) anyway! before more four, i turn to gabe and say, another thing i love about fighter x? people don't mosh around. our moves all complement each other. and everyone dances so nicely and naturally to fx. so i don't have to run out of the way when people start ramming into each other.! so, i can enjoy it, too!
and of course. right after i said that, more four started, and i believe coltan started jumping around and getting everyone's inner neanderthal all riled up and everyone started ramming into each other right at my favorite part. and it made me sad. because i had to stop dancing and scoot out of everyone's way.
but, besides that, more four made me happy. that song reminds me of a multiple orgasm. NOT THAT I KNOW WHAT THAT'S LIKE~!!! :/ -ahem!- but it reminds me of one nonetheless.

when are we gonna hear "more four-bit"? When you stop hating on LSDJ haha! i ain't no lsdj hater! i love a good chiptune as much as anyone. aaron says you can do way better in lsdj than your emx so i'd like to see how two different versions of the same song compare. it'd be a perfect opportunity for you to show me just how amazing lsdj really is!

I'd say that's nearly backwards. I would much sooner expect to hear chiptunes on the radio that any breakcore stuff. More Four is kind of the only exception.
I think it would translate well to LSDJ because it isn't over complicated melody or drum wise, which takes advantage of LSDJ's limitations.

weaker synths!? the emx's synths technically are way more powerful and full sounding. lsdj's synths do sound really cool, but at only 4 bits they literally are missing pieces of a real full sounding wave so they can't be more powerful.
can you explain "better and more unique melodies" a bit? why would you not be able to make the same melodies on the emx?
both machines are great tools. both can be used to make really amazing stuff and both can also make really crappy repetitive stuff. it really depends on the user's ability. i think it's amazing when both are used in unison, the emx handling most of the drums and some of the more dynamic full-sounding electronic synths, and lsdj handling most of the melodies and other noises.

the are both fine sequencers and have a lot of potention, im not comparing them as individual sequencers against each other, im specifically comparing fighter x's emx work on Chrance v1 to lsdj Chrace v2
emx (chracev1) = more repetitive, better beats, more "radio friendly" sounding, weaker synths, more diverse, none of the songs are legitimate "chrance"
lsdj (chrace v2) = higher production values, better and more unique melodies, raw and more powerful synths, harder to accept for the average person, 100% chrance
chrace v2 is less radio friendly in my opinion because it is so raw, video game sounding, and confusing to the average person. the synths on chrance v2 are raw, and like a punch in the face while chrance v1's synths are sweet, soft and soothing. lsdj is very limiting, and forced Nick to create much more unique and better melodies than has done previously on the emx

okay that makes a little more sense aaron.
so v1 was all emx., v2 was all lsdj. will v3 be emx+lsdj!? If "chrance" is chiptune+trance, then an emx+lsdj team-up makes perfect sense! ;D
