As I always say. The better technology gets, the less dependable it becomes. Take videogame consoles for an example. A brand new NES will last you twenty years but an XBox 360 may crap out on you within the first day or a month or two. Portable cd players? I had one for years but I've gone through three mp3 players so far.

ive gone through 4 mp3 players, but i think i went through 6-8 cd players, those really started skipping and having issues fast. but to be fair, my tape play has lasted many many years (i still havent replaced it, but then again, i dont ever use it)

Yeah with cd players I made sure to spend at least $80 on one. It lasted me for years until I left it at school and someone stole it haha.

This is such an old post you bumped Nick! But it's still pretty relevant. New technology definitely doesn't last as long as older stuff, which is quite ironic. Like a VHS can go through hell but one tiny scratch on a DVD fucks it up completely. Although they did make UMD, which has an outer protective casing around the disc. I don't get why they didn't design Blu-Rays with a casing around them.

Just because the threads old doesn't mean I still can't bitch about today's technology here

CD player for almost four years now. It's been stepped on, thrown, smashed, and it still works just as well as any other CD player I've used.

say what!? Well you probably could've got a much better video card for $150, that's all. At least you didn't buy one from Staples though. That retail shit is low quality, that's why they have us offer protection plans on them! And why does it say you're from Silvana, Washington?
And actually when it comes to computers, they last as long as their built right. Last year, my motherboard finally went out on me after going for like 6 years. My original 80GB HDD is filled to the brim and still going strong.
