So Tawnie and I have been talking about this project and now we've started it:
www.crunchyco.com/comics/fmtransfer.html
Basically, Tawnie just printed the first volume herself to sell at her booth at Sakura-Con, but now she wants to collaborate with CrunchyCo on the second volume.
To be perfectly honest, the first volume is very sketchy, flawed, and rough around the edges. It has a great looking cover and a couple of the comics inside are cute, but the content is lacking overall. Aside from most of the art appearing rushed, not well thought out, or of plain low quality, there were also some alignment errors in printing, and many pages suffer from bad resolution. The first issue itself is nothing to brag about, but it's the concept that I'm interested in. Wanting to get more comic projects going, I think a comic anthology is a great idea and with Tawnie helping us put it together, it won't be difficult to pull off.
Volume 1 was pretty much just an experiment, but with CrunchyCo's involvment on Volume 2, you can expect a quality production. Artist's submissions to the zine will be carefully screened and only the best submissions will be selected for print. When the volume is ready to be printed, CrunchyCo (most-likely meaning Gabe and his wallet) will fund its printing and distribute it online and at various comic-related events.
If anyone here is interested in submitting some art or comics for FM Transfer Vol. 2, check the project page linked above for details. Deadline is TBA.
