Holy shit! Kids Get Hit by Buses was selected out of about 100 entrants by the EMP's Youth Advisory Board as their favorite, and the first to be selected for the EMP Sound Off! Competition starting in February. The other 11 bands will be selected next week sometime and then we will know the date of KGHB's semi-final round.
Shit son! me and aaron REALLY have to get on the ball! Gotta re-make our old songs, finish our new songs, practice and plan until our performance is top notch, and get BSOD printed (probably a new Tee too). That's a lot to do and only like 2 months to do it. This will either be our absolute best performance ever, or our absolute most embarrassing one. I guess it's all on us. Fuck! exciting though

Pretty cool. Every true KGHB fan will have to show their support for this one.
Will this actually kick KGHB into high gear? Or will they slack until the very last minute like usual? STAY TUNED!

Joe, my ex-man electronic music producer friend said to me today "It takes a lot of pressure to make diamonds," in regards to getting music ready for a performance like that.
Just remember they picked you for your current level of performance, expertise, and stage presence. Obviously that was good enough to get picked. That's something to really keep in mind when you get stressed. They already like you.
That said, practice practice practice. My music teacher used to say there are 100s of things to remember when performing. Try to internalize everything except 5 things or less. That way when you get out on stage you only have to remember those last 5 important things, and it will take some pressure off knowing you have all the rest solid.
Enough of my lecturing. Gabe, I'm one proud sister. Really proud. I remember when they first started this competition, and it has been a big deal in this area for years.
I accidentally exaggerated the number of people they selected you from in my myspace bulletin, saying they picked you from thousands... hehe... oops. Too late, but I'll get it right next time.
p.s.: Did Steph tell you about the screen printing kit she has? She and I had some ideas for t-shirts. Maybe we could help if we can actually make the thing work. Once screens are created, we can put the designs on just about anything.

thousands? oh man... that's a little more than an exaggeration..
besides practicing our performance to flawlessness, we also need to remake all our old tracks to listenable quality. that and getting BSOD finished is going to be the biggest struggle.
screen printing a ton of shirts with steph's hobbyist kit would be a huge pain in the ass. i do want to make shirts for the show but i'd rather just pay someone a couple hundred to make them for me with pro quality. let me in on your shirt design ideas and i might just whip them up in photoshop.
