I try hard not to post KGHB flyers on people's pages who would not appreciate it. Also, a lot of shows cost money too so it literally is advertising and asking people for money which can be considered a big annoyance to some people.
Like I said, BTD has a VERY good reason to believe that their post would fit here and they did not violate any rules. That's not being too nice aaron, that's just a fact! they're also not SELLING anything which makes it even more okay. i agree that it's not that cool to only come here to talk about yourself, but that doesn't make nick's response any less innapropriate. Do you seriously think that if Sabrepulse posted here about himself one day out of the blue, that Nick would say to him "Stop spamming, no one cares"? No, he wouldn't, but according to you that would be an approriate statement then right? I don't think it would be, and I would defend Sabrepulse's right to post just the same as BTD's! I wish Sabrepulse would post on here once in awhile telling us what's going on with him. Maybe he should take a cue from BTD, but then I guess if he did then we should scold him for spamming..

IT DOESNT FUCKING MATTER IF ITS FREE OR NOT, ITS STILL ADVERTISING! ITS STILL SPAM! and it clearly says on baboon's page to download the album, and if you like it TO BUY IT FROM CDBABY.
you post kghb flyers on strange peoples pages that we dont know from around WA asking them to go to a show. the annoyance IS NOT that the show costs money, its the fact that we ARE ONLY posting on their page to promote ourselves. its completely different if they are a frequent customer, a friend, or anyone else that we normally contact. are you telling me that you DO NOT consider what kghb does to be spam? are you saying we abide by the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003??
im not saying you are being to nice by defending them, i am saying youre being too nice to them in general. you act so excited about the country album, then you gave such a safe response about it. "it kicks the crap out of garth brooks" what the hell does that even mean?? i would like to hear your honest evaluation of the album
are you asking me if sabrepulse posted his first post, and it was about his crunchyco album, if nick would be annoyed? i dont care who it is: sabrepulse, Gabe's Mom, or the fucking POPE! if they only post on here once every 5 months, and only when they want to talk about themselves, they are going to look like a self-righteous prick! at least if sabrepulse posted spam every 5 months about a non-crunchyco release, at least it would be good music for christ sake! and at least the forum community would appreciate it. like i said before, baboon has good intentions, and is probably too busy to come on here, but out of respect if they have enough time to post spam about themselves, they could do their best to be slightly active in crunchyco in some way

whoa getting a little excited there.
here's my honest opinion about their CD: it's just fun and silly and obviously a parody of country music that you are taking way too seriously. i say it's better than garth brooks because i actually HATE country and faggy Garth Brooks, so obviously anything that is just a silly parody of country is going to be funny and better than any other country to me. i don't think BTD really has the intention of getting a serious musical review on a CD like that. but i don't even know why my personal opinion about their CD is even being brought up; it doesn't have to do with anything really.
it doesn't matter if KGHB breaks obscure spamming laws, and it also doesn't matter if you think posting on a forum once every blue moon to promote yourself is an jerky thing to do. i do agree with you on that to an extent. but just because you and nick might consider it unwanted spam, that doesn't mean it is! you and nick do not speak for everyone on this forum!
what i'm saying about sabrepulse, is that if he just one day posted here after NEVER posting here once before, and the only thing he said was "hey check out my new CD". even if it wasn't a crunchyco release, I doubt you would say it's spam and tell sabrepulse that he is spamming and needs to stop and be more active on this forum before he can start sharing his new music with us. but that would not be spamming the forum in my eyes. spamming the forum would be like posting multiple times in a bunch of different unrelated threads. spamming the forum would be if BTD was not a CrunchyCo artist and just some random group that we've never seen or heard about before.
I don't know about you, but I personally do not see it as a negative thing when people want to share their music on this forum no matter what kind of music it is.

I do not mind people advertising their products / releases on this forum, but baboon's post can easily be considered inappropriate because: 1) the only posts they have made on this forum over the past 7 months have only been advertising themselves / their products. Not very many forums appreciate people only making posts when it involves themselves 2) baboon is not an official crunchy records artist yet, and this is not a crunchy records release, thus has very little relevance to crunchyco 3) our small forum community is not the right audience for this release i am starting to lose track of what we are ultimately debating, it sounds like you pretty much agree with me. the whole sabrepulse thing is: if its his very first post, its kind of hard to be so harsh. i dont think nick said anything the first time baboon posted a thread about themselves, ya know? i dont think we're really debating really about baboon, mainly whether or not Nick was in the right about his post. you agree that it is spam, but the main question now is whether it is wanted or unwanted. you are right that me and nick do not really speak for the rest of the forum, the only reason i am on the side that no one cares is because since our forum is a mainly biased chip community, like youve stated, the odds are pretty obvious that no one is going to care. but i guess time will tell haha god! whenever baboon logs on again, they sure are going to kill me!  |

haha, well no i never agreed that their post is spam. i've been saying all along that it's not because spam is annoying and unwanted solicitation and i don't think btd's post was annoying and unwanted solicitiation since it makes sense why it was posted here and didn't break any rules. ah shit they're yelling at me to get off the computer. anyway fuck it. i'm done, haha

thats not true, spam does not have to be unwanted. kghb is posting information about our upcoming show, im sure some people want to know about that. it is still spam. baboon's post is an advertisement, thus it is spam. posting a link to another site, advertising an item, and telling people to go there is spam. heres wikipedia's definition for "forum spam" - Forum spam, posting advertisements or useless posts on a forum
forum spam is not a big deal, but its kind of annoying if all you do is post about yourself like ive explained several times

yea yea. i guess when i think spam it seems to have a negative connotation. i just don't really see btd's post as an advertisement really. if i did, i would have deleted it because the forum rules say no posting ads. anyway, i don't even remember or care what i was saying anymore but i got cut off on my last post because everyone at my work was SCREAMING at me to get of the computer!!  i think i did about 1 hour of actual work all day today. is there some kind of forum addict rehab i can go to? it's starting to have unhealthy effects on my real life! haha |
