everyone has probably noticed the bizarre guest posts that seem to pop up randomly consisting of incredibly long incoherent lists of random symbols. i don't really know what those posts are exactly, some kind of bug or spam robot thing i guess. whatever they are, they're a nuisance, so to eliminate the problem I've made it so you have to register to view or post on the forum.
i like the idea of people just being able to view the forums as guests, but i also really dislike these random glitch posts, but then again, maybe this will cause more people to become members? what does everyone think? should i continue to force member registration, or should we all just put up with the glitchy posts and continue allowing guests?

It seems bad not being able to be a guest and look around at what exactly is being discussed on the forum and see how comfortable you are in actually becoming a member and start posting. Looking around as a guest at the interesting threads gives an incentive to join, without that i think people would be too in the dark. Can guests still look at the calendar? Thats pretty important

brandon that would be the ideal solution. but i can't figure out how to do that! i'll keep trying to figure it out though.
aaron had some good thoughts, although on the other hand i know that when i come across a members only forum that i am interested in looking at, i will quickly register so i can access it. having a members only forum could potentially cause more people to be registered. if a person won't register right away, they probably wouldn't register after looking at the forum either, in fact maybe guests are seeing our bizarre discussions and actually deciding not to register!

After much thought, I've decided to enable guests to view the forum and make posts again without registration. The benefits of that are worth putting up with the occasional glitch robot post. But those guests should be registering anyways!!!
