I think you make some very good points Jack. You are certainly one of our most enthusiastic and involved supporters and we absolutely appreciate you for that. I've always been against the second page link, but I'm trying to do the best I can to compromise with Aaron who has been quite adamant about the whole thing. With the recent changes, the link has been made more noticable, and I've created the opportunity for artists to move to the front page. Things could change in the future, but for now it's really not meant to discourage anyone. I hope that you keep doing the things you do with as much enthusiasm, which is what will put you on the front page in time. I still don't understand why you can;t just put the "other artists in their own section below the showcase instead of making a link to another page. I'm going to let Aaron give you the answer to this.

oh my god, holy shit fucking balls testicles. fuuuuuuuuuuuckkkkkkk. this is so fucking stupid and everything around and between it.
yes it is not meant to be discouraging. BUT IT IS . . . you say your bands are on it and your not discouraged. BUT THE REST OF US ARE, your friends and people you sponsor on the web site are telling you this. you need to take care of your guests, not shove them in a corner. LISTEN cuz that is what we are telling you it feels like. get over the fact that you dont want a cluttered page (which it wont be and a majority of your staff and the people you hired to make this decision is telling you it wont be) get over the fact that you think humans are stupid enough to get offended and never come back to your site to look at the other chiptoon bands (cuz that is ridiculous as well and no one's mind works that way)
aaron, listen to your friends, employees, staff, other fans on the forum, and current crunchyco artists that are all telling you everything will be ok. every one around you is clearly upset by your actions. doesnt this all seem strange to you?? can you not understand why this might be??
"you and coltan being silent would have made things go a lot smoother."
fuck that . . . who says stuff like that?? did aaron really type that out? aaron right now i seriously think you are out of your mind. every one around you is defending attacks that you are starting. that is very odd.

I'm extremely tempted to go on a correcting spree about punk rock here, but I don't want to make any enemies by being a pretentious jackass about it. There is one thing though that I just can't resist. No offense meant by it Aaron, buuuuut: the most simplistic guitar, drums, vocals, and overall basic song structure of all time; even more so than Blink 182 in my opinion. I DARE you to TRY and drum like The drummer from Blink 182. The Basslines are the only relatively simple thing in blink 182 (with the exception of Carousel). Even the songs that are mainly power chords are typically played so fast (and even faster live) that it gets difficult to have the stamina to even keep up the whole song. There's virtually NOTHING simplistic about blink 182. jack, jack, jack... The drummer from Blink 182 is neither a punk drummer nor a punk, and for what it's worth, i think he's a boring drummer at that. vulgar power pop != punk

Huh? The drummer from Blink 182 a boring drummer? btw Aaron's not alone. I'm completely on his side.

hahaha i am just completely confused now. first of all, why the hell are we talking about The drummer from Blink 182? i said that blur has some of the most simple songs of all time, even more so than blink 182's which means blink 182 has one thing going for it that blur doesnt; a better drummer. I am shocked that someone would even defend blink 182 on this subject! Has anyone heard enema of the state? has anyone heard "all the small things" for the love of christ??!!! That is quite possibly the most simple song of all time; if you are trying to start a band and trying to learn how to play any instrument or sing, this IS the one song you should start with!! But second to that song is beetlebum and then song 2 by blur. Thank you Nick Walthew for being on my side haha and Gabe doesnt really have much to say about this so he must not be against me, so i guess everyones not against me! Seth doesnt really seem against me either. As far as would the meeting go smoother if coltan and lizzy didnt speak? well, it DID go much smoother once they DID leave! Me and Nick Moffit were able to have a calm, mature, respectful conversation, listen to each others side, input and suggest further ideas and eventually come to a final conclusion. (to be fair to lizzy, i would have to admit it was mainly Coltan that was interrupting me, laughing inappropriately, and being all around extremely biased that was really pissing me off, forcing me to shout and so on) If people are still confused why the music page is how it is, i am sorry, i dont feel there is anything more i can say that i have already said. But this whole "earn your way to the front page" was not my idea, this was Nick Moffit and Gabe's idea. I wanted the front page to, for now, have the Chiptunish artists, because not only are they what crunchyco's audience from around the world wants at the moment, but because they are the only group of similar artists that could be grouped together, everything else is a bunch of mismatched genres that would go into a experimental/misc folder. Now dont get me wrong, once lets say powerpop gained popularity and a greater audience leading to crunchyco gaining more powerpop artists, then we'd finally able to have one folder that said "chiptune related" another that said "powerpop" and another that said "experimental/misc" then once hardcore punk gained more popularity and recognition on crunchyco and we gained enough hardcore punk artists, we would have one folder that said "chiptune related" another that said "powerpop" another that said "hardcore punk" and another that said "experimental/misc". haha i think you get the point. This was apparently too offensive, so Gabe and Nick Moffit have changed the music page into a showcase in which artists have to earn to be apart of, which i dont really mind at all, it seems fair. But as far as why Circles hasnt earned to be on the artist showcase, i have no clue, i did not make up these rules. If Cirlces has done everything Gabe has said needs to be done to on the front page of his showcase idea thing, then i guess its up to Gabe to address this issue. (to be fair to Gabe, he did say "we have not worked out the absolute solid guidelines yet") But personally, by looking at what artist pages have been most frequently viewed, the artist on this "other page" that seems to be doing the best is surprisingly ........................... Smuggling Chewbacca! That is a scary thought of Smugg making the showcase!

aaron i feel that you didnt address a lot of what i said.
"I'm completely on his side" above you sad it was offensive to be on that page. So even though you think this your just saying screw them?
oh and i am a drummer and i know that Travis is an amazing drummer. Kill, Technique, Style, Experience, Song Witting. He very much excels in all these areas.

haha why the fuck are we talking about travis? we all know travis is a good drummer, is this all because of seth's above post? dont listen to him, he is obviously being a bit biased
What do you want me to address, brandon? we are talking about the new music section, which WAS brainstormed by your friends and fellow staff members! it was the final decision of the crunchyco staff meeting, i dont know what you want me to say?

I've always been a supporter of having all the artists on the same page. Aaron wanted the second page link. Previously, bands on the second page would've been unable to move to the first page. Me and Nick Moffitt changed that to make it more fair, although the system is obviously still flawed and we'll continue to look for the best solution. For the record, it was Aaron's idea to reserve the front music page for only the most popular artists. I am very opposed to that idea.
This is what I think we should do: Let's give it some time. We'll let everything cool down; we'll see how things go. After a few more weeks we'll put up the Archives section in which some of the bands will be moved to. We'll leave it as it is for the time being, but we'll re-access the situation sometime next month after some things get rearranged. Frankly, I'm just really sick of arguing about it. Let's give it some time, and bring it up again sometime after we get back from Comic-Con.

Honestly, the biggest reasons i wanted to start this second page in the first place is because:
1) I wanted our current audience brought directly from FIghter X's myspace page to see and get exactly what they came here for. The very few local fans could still have their own page with Everyone Hypo and the other MISC artists that have yet to grow in popularity.
2) I didnt think anyone would notice or care. At the time, there were many reasons for this:
>You can already see a full list of everything in the projects section >Smugg and Teethandfeet are about to be moved to a new "archives" section >The Get claims they are not releasing their debut 7" until 2009 >Baboon doesnt even know they are on crunchyco >Although EH has big future plans, for the previous 2 years they have been on CrunchyCo they have shown very little interest in their presence on the site, gaining a fanbase, or growing as a band (in fact, i hardly knew they were still a band until their recent show) and have yet to effectively portray their live show into a recording >Crunchyco has yet to bring a fan following for metal or powerpop for in the cases of qwerty and circles >Although all the music could have been put into two groups on one page and separated with dotted lines, i thought having a second page would allow a nice introductory paragraph directing people into the mindset of viewing the other artists in "just good fun" >Having the artists that are most craved by CrunchyCo's current audience on the most popular page (the music page) would ensure a fantastic first impression, unlike the projects page which is a very cluttered list full of inactive or speculative projects, strange and extreme bands, and very mismatched genres
---------------------------------
Since then, i have come to the conclusion that i have been mistaken about a few things, and you people (mainly artists and CC staff) not only DO care but have extremely strong feelings about it! I mean, not only have i never heard everyone speak so much at a crunchyco meeting, ive never seen this forum so active! Although Gabe wasnt really much of a supporter of my original idea, he also wasnt really against it as long as no one else cared. Me and gabe can agree that this issue is not really resolved and the both of us will have to come up with a fair resolution

jack, jack, jack... The drummer from Blink 182 is neither a punk drummer nor a punk, I never claimed him to be. I simply said that there's nothing simple about his drumlines I am shocked that someone would even defend blink 182 on this subject! Has anyone heard enema of the state? has anyone heard "all the small things" for the love of christ??!!! That is quite possibly the most simple song of all time; Try to play Whats My Age Again and Aliens Exist. Try to play the Bassline in Mutt. Play it as fast as they do live. While singing. Try to play anything off of Take Off Your Pants And Jacket. I will give you that their song STRUCTURES are simple, but again virtually nothing about their instrumentation is by any means simple (except most of the basslines). If I'm not getting CrunchyCo views, I suppose I can understand that. I'm going to remain adament in my statement though that I will promote as much as I'm promoted. If I'm not really an asset at the moment, I guess it's no big deal. I hope that changes in the future though. Summer is a slow period for shows and Music artists (which is why the majority of them choose to record in the summer), but come fall and winter when things pick up again, I'm hoping to do some bigger things.

also, i think it is a little unfair that artists like jack are getting the short end of the stick. you shouldn't be hiding other artists away because their music doesn't incorporate beeps and boops.
