no way. i don't believe it. i want to see some scientific facts that a person can be deathly afraid of a pickle, or a chicken. even if her dad did molest her with a pickle, it doesn't make sense for her to react that way. it's totally absurd!

i believe it, only because i know a girl who's deathly afraid of coins. she'll like freak out and jump back and stuff.
where's atomic to explain this better...

i have seen those videos before, and im like 85% sure they are total BS. if it was real, that's just really mean to do, with all the videos and having the pickles in the room and stuff. but the reason it seems so ridiculous is because normal people aren't even that afraid of things usually. its like, if someone is afraid of spiders, and all of a sudden a spider lands on them their response is usually something like "OH HOLY SHIT!" and then they start ripping their clothes off and dancing around like a frantic retard. they don't run into a corner and start crying.
even Lindsys irrational fear of coins, which she still hasn't explained more than "i just don't like coins... they freak me out, and i don't want to talk about it" isnt that severe.

yeah thats a good point that people don't react THAT much to real phobias. those people were way overboard. that pickle chick almost looked like she was laughing at one point like she was fucking up in her acting.

my grandmother is deathly afraid of snakes. what do you think she would do if i started chasing her with a SNAKE?? in those peoples minds, it is the same situation. that fat woman thinks that dead chicken corpses can come alive!!!

I used to know a kid who was afraid of velvet. If you threw a book at him with like a velvet-ish cover he would go crazy trying to get it away.
I think crying is a legit fear reaction.
Ha I actually no someone who is deathly afraid of balloons. I didn't realize till one day my friend was blowing one up for whatever reason, and she ran away and hid behind a truck.
The best part of balloon lady was when she ran from the noise of the popping balloons, only to be greeted backstage by even MORE balloons!

well something like a snake or a spider is something that can actually cause a person harm if it bites or stings or something which is why i can understand people's reaction to that kind of thing, but a pickle? come on lady! a chicken? i guess a chicken can bite or peck at you, but that bitch was afraid of people in chicken suits too! if these people really get that freaked out by those things, i would think that person doesn't just have a phobia, but some serious mental problems.

A phobia (from Greek: φόβος, phobos, "fear"), is an irrational, intense, persistent fear of certain situations, activities, things, or people. The main symptom of this disorder is the excessive, unreasonable desire to avoid the feared subject. When the fear is beyond one's control, or if the fear is interfering with daily life, then a diagnosis under one of the anxiety disorders can be made. meh.

ah so i guess they do just have serious mental problems...? sounds like a mild form of retardation

It isn't retardation, it's just an anxiety disorder, which can develop for a number of different reasons. Phobias are also completely curable with training and conditioning. It's sorta like rehab for scaredy-cats.

One thing I'm curious about.. Is the pickle chick afraid of cucumbers too? I mean, how pickled does the cucumber have to be before she becomes afraid of it?

i think thats what maurie is trying to do: cure them by making them finally step up to their biggest fear! hahah which is obviously not very effective if you watch the videos! pickles are slimey (kind of like a snake or something) and have a nasty texture like the warty nose of a green, rotting corpse of witch. hahah i mean, its kind of understandable right? she probably doesnt like cucumbers, but isnt deathly afraid of them
