i mean, he could get together his most solid tracks, and release an actual album for sale, and have all of his bside game boy tunes for free download

It would seem like a good plan, but I do consider all of my Gameboy tracks "solid," and if they're not, I'm going to re-work them till they are.
I think I'm going to end up making 2 EPs. 8-Bit Fury will be first and I'm now actively working on all the re-records and such. I'll try to have it out by the end of the year. I want to sell it, but I might put a song or two up for free download anyway (Probably Falcon Punch, just so I don't get slammed with copyright nonsense).
The second EP, which I decided I want to call 8-Bit Rampage, I'll put out later. How do you like them apples?

by the end of the year!? damn i have to wait that long!? I do a meticulous editing job on my tracks. That, and the horrible Trifecta of school, work, and shows are about to destroy me. That, and I'm admittedly a little lazy. Though I definitely don't want to rush it, I would rather get it done sooner that later, since this whole deal for me is still kinda hot, and I would to release it while it's still in some sort of demand. I have a bad habit of not getting around to releasing material until it's gone stale already.

if it takes until the end of the year for a great, quality release, than so be it!

Yeah I definitely want you to take all the time you need, but that doesn't mean I have to like waiting for it! Back to PAX, I thought this was funny from one of those gaming blogs: "Outside was some DJ on the sidewalk playing 8-bit techno music using the old gameboy (black and white) music chips. There were lots of people gathered and some were dancing! I saw a kid with an old Nintendo Power glove on, I thought that was pretty cool." Haha, he called you guys DJ's! and he also called it TECHNO music!

i know, people confuse us for being djs / not playing original music, they dont realize we're doing a live set / use a sequencer with our own composed work. now do people get how we were so offended in the herald article with the dude asked us if we were djs???

ha, i missed this the first time. why do people get so offended when chiptunes(or any other subgenre of electronic music) gets called "techno"? it's basically the same as referring to it as electronic music, which in the grand scheme of things it is. i would even go as far to say that it's better than referring to it as dance music. think about it; random layperson sees someone banging out tunes with a DMG. they've never heard of chiptunes, probably even "8 bit" or any of the other typical accepted labels for it. it's a pretty good description from someone who doesn't know whats up. although, the dj's part is kind of disappointing. although once again, to someone who doesn't get how it works... how are they supposed to realize you're playing back chains/etc? they figure you're just playing back pre-recorded stuff because, how would you play music on an "Instrument" with 8 buttons?, of which you can only really use 2 or 3 of at a time. i've been generally impressed with joe general publics reactions, and assumptions about chiptunes. especially outside PAX and in other groups of nerds. most people at least 50% get whats going on after a minute or two. and are usually like "O NUH UH MAN, THATS SICK"

yeah a lot of people are kind of confused but think it's cool anyway. i was pretty surprised at how little people knew about this stuff though. it just seems normal to me.
i think it's lame when people refer to all electronic music as "techno", mostly because techno only describes such a tiny sub-genre that kinda sucks actually and in my opinion gives good electronic music a bad name because people think if they hear one shitty techno song, that all electronic music sounds like that. when people ask me if i like techno, i tell them no, techno sucks and then educate those fools!
